Time ticks on......

And life throws some curveballs and interesting surprises for everyone. No apologies or excuses here, just a tumultuous time recently. Some good, some brilliant and some just down right heartbreaking. After a few false starts (mainly technological - What is going on with the Blogger App??), I felt the urge to write. Not to share anything in particular, but just a need to reacquaint myself with my inner voice and let it run free. So today is just an opening of the heart and mind. A chance to let some of those inner thoughts run free and see what comes out.  It seems that life is always throwing something else at you. Since I last stopped by to share my thoughts ( July last year  can you believe?) the following have happened: I've moved house We began a tough journey (that still isn't complete) I've loved and felt real love I've lost I resigned from my job (recently) I have seen a great friend get married in Italy I have baked (a lot) I have masted the art...

Living

Where does the weekend go? It seems that Sunday night rolls around very quickly no matter what I am up too. I wonder how i get one of those jobs where you work 3 or 4 days and have 3 or 4 off to live life? (And still have enough money to experience life!) Talking of experiencing life - I came across one of my favourite quotes again today. It goes a little something like this - "I don't want to just exist, I want to live." (Author unknown, to me) This to me is about experiencing life and getting out there and doing things rather than just cruising along and letting life's opportunities pass you by. To me, this is the true essence of me and how I feel. I want to LIVE. I want experiences, passion, highs and lows. Life is for living not just existing.  So in the spirit of living, I have added to my Goals list as part of my Happiness Project this weekend. Number 6. on my list -  12 new...

Happiness Project Update

I find the way I work is to devour heaps of information, process it, dream about it and let my thoughts ramble away. At some stage in the not too distant future these ramblings turn to coherent thoughts (hopefully) and work themselves into something usable. Well this has been the process in thinking about my own Happiness Project. While I reluctant to take on a year long specific project like Gretchen did in her Happiness Project Book (I never finish anything anyway, and don't want to disappoint myself), I do want to set myself some goals, tasks and thoughts to sit alongside my current yearly goals. Here are a few things I want to remember to do that I feel will boost my happiness. Get more Vitamin D - take a walk, sit outside or just feel a bit of sunshine every week Unplug & Turn off -  since  I got my  iPhone  last year I have been glued to it. Same with the new Mac and the Apple TV. While I love the  convenien...

Book of the Month - The Happiness Project

I love reading  - anything chick lit and self analysis are my favourites.  As much as I love technology I can't go past the feel of a real book. Turning pages while snuggled under a blanket. My idea of heaven. Anyway, this month's book has been the Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin . I am nearly finished reading the account of Gretchen's year of trying to have more fun to increase her happiness and have enjoyed it immensely and can't wait to get started on my own version. I am looking forward to sharing the journey as I map out my Commandments and Resolutions. This seems like an extension of my Goals work I have been doing with good friends for the last few years. I love setting out my Goals and meeting up every couple of months to put stars on the ones we have achieved. I am at heart a list maker who enjoys nothing more then seeing Gold Stars on a page as I accomplish things. (And yes I have been known to put something on the bottom of the lift that I ha...
